IOG-International Ocean Group

Establishing Taiwan as an Energy-Independent Nation

International Ocean Group (IOVTEC) has primarily provided geophysical survey and marine geographic measurement services since 2013. After Taiwan initiated offshore wind power in 2016, IOVTEC gained favor from global energy enterprises to execute offshore wind farm detection services. In 2018, they formed a joint venture with UK's CWind UK to establish Cwind Taiwan, and by the end of 2019, IOVTEC had accumulated extensive experience collaborating with international energy companies.

Description

Project Background

International Ocean Group (IOVTEC) has primarily provided geophysical survey and marine geographic measurement services since 2013. After Taiwan initiated offshore wind power in 2016, IOVTEC gained favor from global energy enterprises to execute offshore wind farm detection services. In 2018, they formed a joint venture with UK's CWind UK to establish CWind Taiwan, and by the end of 2019, IOVTEC had accumulated extensive experience collaborating with international energy companies.
Leveraging overseas resources and technologies across exploration, construction, and maintenance phases, they transformed into International Ocean Group (IOG), aspiring to establish Taiwan as the Asia-Pacific offshore wind power base and create a sustainable clean energy environment in the Asian region. Transitioning from a single technical service provider to an offshore wind power supply chain integration service group, IOG recognized the critical need to establish a new brand image as its service scope and target audiences expanded.

Solution

Geber conducted comprehensive discussions with IOG's core departmental personnel, organizing brand workshops to establish IOG's brand positioning as a "one-stop offshore wind power supply chain integrator". By analyzing offshore wind power industry visual design trends and brand messaging, Geber helped IOG develop an internationalized, integrated, and group-oriented design approach, ultimately crafting a new identification design system that perfectly conveys the brand positioning.

The logo primarily uses deep blue, with wave-like curves traversing the three letters IOG, representing the end-to-end service from initial exploration to final maintenance. The O's bottom in water blue symbolizes undersea operations, while the G's top in natural green represents above-surface wind power, comprehensively demonstrating IOG's integration capabilities from underwater exploration and installation to surface wind farms. Additionally, Geber custom-designed the Chinese standard characters (國際海洋), preserving Taiwan's local values and hoping that Taiwan's offshore wind power experience will contribute to the global renewable energy industry.

Results

IOG made its official debut at the Asia-Pacific International Wind Power Exhibition in 2020, declaring to the global offshore wind power industry that Taiwan is capable of providing integrated supply chain services. The company continues to deeply root itself in Taiwan, introducing offshore wind power technologies, knowledge, and cultivating local talent. In April 2020, IOG formed a joint venture with Dutch multinational listed company Fugro to establish marine survey company, Fugro IOVTEC Co., Ltd., and in the same year, secured the geological exploration contract for the Sea Dragon wind farm, continually developing more comprehensive localized services for Taiwan's rapidly growing offshore wind power market.
